GradPoint Procedures
Course Description: GradPoint is a computer web-based program that allows students to progress through the prescribed curriculum at different paces. At the end of each module, each student will take a post-assessment. Students that achieve 60% or higher on the post assessment will be moved to the next module. In GradPoint, each student may take each post assessment up to three times. If their score is not at 60% or higher to move on after two attempts students will have the opportunity to review lessons on missed objectives. If a student does not achieve a 60% or higher after 3 attempts, the highest post assessment score will be used, and the student will move to the next module. Students not completing any module by the due date will receive a score of 30 until student completes the module to replace the score of 30.
Supplies: Students will need to have pen or pencil and notebook to take notes for the different lessons in the modules. It is strongly encouraged for students to take notes on different lessons, so that they may be able to achieve success on assessments. This will also provide students with notes to study for their final exam. Notebooks may be checked during the semester to improve student’s grade. Teacher does not assist on pre-assessment.
- Beginning of Class: Students should enter the class quietly and go to their assigned computer. Students should begin their assigned activity.
- Bathroom Procedure: It is expected of students to go to the bathroom during the exchange of classes. Students will be permitted to leave the room for a water or bathroom break per Rolesville hall pass policy. Any student abusing this procedure will lose the privilege to leave the classroom.
- Leaving the Classroom: Towards the end of class students are not allowed to line up at the door. All students must remain in their assigned area (standing or seated). Students not meeting this expectation will receive a consequence.
- Computer Procedure: Students are only to be on assigned computer programs. Students may use the Internet to assist with completing lessons and assessments. If a student is found on sites not relevant to lessons or test, student’s computer may be blocked. Student may be assigned a non computer assignment in alignment with their course. Student must pass the assignment to receive their computer privileges again.
- Electronic Devices: Cell phones and electronic devices are to be used in accordance with the Technology policy of Rolesville. Students are not allowed to plug cell phones in computer.
- Food: Students can eat and drink away from computers and must clean up after themselves. Students not meeting this expectation will not be able to eat in class.
Grading
The student’s grade will be assessed by assessments within the module and assignments outside of GradPoint. Any assigned work not completed maybe recorded as a failing grade and averaged into the overall average.
Major Assessments (Post assessment/ projects) 60%
Intermediate Assessments (Quizzes) 30%
Minor Assessments (Module Recovery Sheet) 10%
Attendance
It is the responsibility of the student to check with Mr. Drew for makeup work when absent. Make up work is to be turned within two days after returning to class. If more time is needed, Mr. Drew and the student will mutually agree on a due date.
Each course has its own individual pacing guide. This pacing guide is based upon the number modules and number of days in the course. Students are expected to meet assigned due dates based upon pacing guide.
Students may work on GradPoint outside of class but must take post assessments in lab unless given permission by Mr. Drew. If a student takes post assessments, outside of class without Mr. Drew’s permission that module will have to be done over.
If a student falls behind pace, it is recommended for the student to work on GradPoint outside of class to get back on pace.
